Zena Sun Dried Red Hibiscus Flowers are naturally dried hibiscus flowers, also widely known as sorrel, roselle or bissap. They have a distinctive deep red colour and a refreshing, pleasantly tart flavour.
Dried hibiscus is traditionally used across Africa, the Caribbean and other parts of the world to prepare refreshing hibiscus drinks. It is particularly popular for making Zobo in Nigeria, Bissap in West Africa and Sorrel drinks in the Caribbean.
The flowers can be infused in hot water and enjoyed either hot or chilled. Spices, ginger, fruit, sugar or other sweeteners can also be added according to preference.
Ingredients
100% sun-dried red hibiscus flowers (Hibiscus sabdariffa).
Preparation
- Rinse the dried hibiscus flowers thoroughly.
- Place the desired amount in a pot and add water.
- Bring to a boil and allow the flowers to infuse until the water develops a deep red colour.
